The Truth Will Change You
To save his
life after a deadly attack, Adam Jensen had no choice but to become
physically augmented with cybernetics. Driven by his need for answers,
he soon finds himself chasing down leads all over the world. The choices
he makes, as he unravels a vast conspiracy, will help determine the
fate of humanity.
We start by introducing our hero Adam
Jensen. Adam is a security specialist working for Sarif Industries, when
an attack by cybernetic super soldiers leaves him left for dead and his
girlfriend/co-worker Megan missing, with some other high level
researchers from Sarif Industries. This journey will be truly unique to
your playing style, however all objectives remain the same, but will you
choose stealth, go in all guns blazing or just mess with the guards
heads and evade and thwart their attempts to track you down?
You can achieve most objectives without a
single shot being fired, which was my approach. The only exceptions are
boss levels, where it’s a fight to the death. This is best achieved by
exploration of the area you will be in at any given time, however this
can be very time consuming and you will need to gear your praxis unlocks
towards stealth and hacking. Evasion is always fun yet difficult,
expect to loose a lot of lives trying this approach. All guns blazing is
very costly in terms of resources and expect to fight your way through
each and every single guard and bot within the immediate area of
operation.
Adam struggles to come to terms with the
augmentations he was given just in order to survive his horrific
injuries. He is also struggling with the loss of Megan. This point is
prevalent throughout the story and becomes Adams driving force, his
source of fury and will to uncover the deepest darkest plot against the
human race of all time.
The games visuals are stunning. At first I
thought I was watching a futuristic cyber punk movie. Square Enix didn’t
spare any expense or rush this masterpiece. From what I could tell when
playing, there were little to no flaws in the visuals, which these days
is no surprise. It is surprising to see it backed up with a full suite
of flawless combat, including third person switching to a seamless
transition to a first person shooter view with no loss of visual
quality.
You will need to be aware that all of your
actions will have consequences that may affect your ability to uncover
the conspiracy. This is the reason I chose to go the stealth approach
and with it tried to use as much non lethal force as possible. As I
mentioned earlier, praxis points can unlock new augmentations or upgrade
existing ones you may already have. Some of these include; retinal
enhancements, breathing enhancements, neural implants that allow remote
hacking of devices and robots, just to name a few.
So in short, if you’re looking for a
futuristic RPG /Adventure game that will have more side quests than most
games on the market, with graphics that will blow you out of the
galaxy, then this is the game for you. The only disappointing part was
that the game was far too short in comparison to its predecessor, the
original Dues Ex.
